Today I have something a bit different for you 😀. Some of you have commented on the song that I composed for the SFS Colorful Triads promo and trailer, and I know that many of you are wondering exactly how I use chromatic approach in that song, and in the included solo improvisation.
So I decided to make a quick video with some basic real time analysis of what's going on. You are going to see on-screen what melodic concepts I'm using at any given point. Most of it IS chromatic approach technique, applied to a variety of structures, but there's some extra stuff in there as well.
Later on, in the SFS Colorful Triads course, after we cover some important concepts, I will actually give you a full analysis, which I think you will find extremely interesting and useful, and you'll have the opportunity to learn the guitar solo and play along with the backing track. But for now I just want to give you a general idea, and we can go deeper after you learn more:
