Welcome to this super-quick guitar tip on soloing using the pedal point effect. Incorporating this technique into your soloing can add a new level of musicality to your playing.
The video is the “express” version of a longer, more comprehensive lesson, called “How to Sound Musical - Pedal Point” and it’s part of the “How to Sound Musical” series.
For those unfamiliar, a melodic pedal point is a repeating note that serves as the foundation for a melody. You play the pedal note, then you play another note. Then the pedal note again, then another note, and so on. By using a pedal point, you can create a sense of tension and resolution in your solos, giving them more depth and interest.
In this video, I demonstrate this technique in combination with the String Fragment System™ (aka SFS) which is a fretboard navigation method that allows you to easily move your melodic ideas everywhere on the fretboard.
If you're looking to break free from always playing inside the classic “box” shapes, be sure to sign up for our free mini course "SFS Fretboard Secrets". You’ll discover how the String Fragment System™ is the key to mastering the fretboard and taking your solos to the next level.
